DeskRest FAQ: the 10 questions everyone asks
10 questions, 10 direct answers — no scrolling through marketing first. Everything here is grounded in what we verified in July 2026: the official store, the public release notes, and the developer's stated policies. For anything deeper, each answer links to the full page on this site.
Is DeskRest free?
No — it's paid software with lifetime licenses from $14.99 (1 Mac). The official site advertises no free tier or trial as of July 2026. If free is a requirement, Stretchly and BreakTimer cover the basics without charge.
One-time payment or subscription?
Strictly one-time. Each tier includes lifetime updates, so there's no renewal, no annual plan, and nothing to cancel — a deliberate contrast to subscription wellness apps.
Which Macs does it run on?
Any Mac on macOS 14.2 (Sonoma) or newer, Apple silicon and Intel alike. Older systems can't install it — that requirement is firm.
Is there an iPhone or iPad version?
No. The app is Mac-only, and that includes mobile: no iOS companion, no Apple Watch app. Reminders live entirely in your Mac's menu bar.
Does it handle multiple monitors?
Yes. Multi-monitor display issues were specifically fixed in v1.18.2 (March 2025), and break overlays now behave across screens — see the changelog for the release trail.
Can I move my license to a new Mac?
Your license covers a set number of machines (1, 2, or 5). For transfers to replacement hardware, the developer handles it through official support — that's a them question, not an us question.
Does the app collect my data?
The developer states it runs on-device with no account required. Payments go through the Lemon Squeezy checkout, so card details never touch the app. Our full evidence review is on the safety page.
What's the refund policy?
Refunds run through the official cancellation process on the developer's site — as an independent guide we can't issue them. Check the terms at checkout before buying if this matters to you.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The app runs on-device, so break scheduling needs no internet connection once your license is activated. You'll only go online for updates and the initial key activation.
Is there team or volume licensing?
The 5-Mac tier at $44.99 is the closest thing — about $9 per machine, which suits a small studio. Anything larger means emailing the developer directly.
